I don’t know much about the Blue Ridge team Norm’s Maggots, but what I do know is that they have a stranglehold on first place on the challenging Blue Ridge Relay. They won the relay for the 5th year in a row, and they set a new course record of 21:42:22, a 6:09 pace on what is, by many accounts, one of the toughest courses out there. Team Mizuno (featuring runners from local shoe store FootRx) nabbed second place with their time of 22:11:19, and Godiva Masters set a new Masters record and took third with their time of 22:58:54. Scot Hayward, an ultrarunner, completed his solo finish of the course in 57:31:00. He was the first person to accomplish this feat.
It was a great weekend for setting records, as new ones were also set for the ultra and women’s divisions. Great work, runners.
Other division results:
Ultra: On The Run, 23:10:05 (course record – 6:34 pace!)
Mixed: Quick And The Drop Dead Gorgeous, 25:34:47
Womens: Sisterhood Of The Traveling Bracelet, 27:25:52 (course record – 7:47 pace!)
